What is Word Match?

Word Match is a classic memory card game with a twist — each pair consists of a word card and its matching emoji card. Flip two cards at a time and try to remember where each card is hidden to find all the pairs. With 6 themed categories (Animals, Fruits, Colors, Countries, Space, Ocean) and 3 difficulty levels, there are 18 unique game configurations to master. The game tracks your moves and time so you can always try to beat your personal best!

How do I flip a card?

Simply click or tap any face-down card to reveal it. Click a second card to attempt a match. If they're a word-emoji pair, they stay face up!

What counts as a match?

Each word card (e.g. 'Lion') is paired with its emoji card (🦁). Both cards must be flipped within the same turn to count as a match.

How is the best score calculated?

Your best score is the fewest moves taken to complete a game for each category and difficulty combination. It's stored locally in your browser session.

Are the cards shuffled randomly?

Yes! Cards are randomly shuffled every time you start a new game, so no two games are the same.

Can I change category mid-game?

Yes — clicking a new category or difficulty will automatically start a fresh game with a new shuffled board.
