How to Play Make 10

  1. 1

    Choose Difficulty and Mode

Pick Easy (pairs to 10, 6 tiles), Medium (to 20, 8 tiles), or Hard (to 50, 10 tiles). Then select 60-Second Rush or Survival (3 lives).

  2. 2

    Look at the Target

The target number (10, 20, or 50) is displayed prominently. Your goal is to find two tiles on the board whose values add up to that target.

  3. 3

    Tap Two Tiles

Tap one tile — it highlights with a golden ring. Then tap a second tile. If the two values sum to the target, both tiles disappear. If not, you lose a life in Survival mode.

  4. 4

    Clear the Board

Remove all pairs to clear the board. A new set of tiles immediately appears so you can keep scoring. Build your streak and beat your high score!

Key Features

  • Colorful Tap-to-Pair Tiles

Vibrant gradient tiles in rose, amber, emerald, sky, and violet fill the board. Tap one tile then another — if they sum to the target, both disappear with a satisfying animation. Clear the board and a fresh set appears.

  • Three Difficulty Levels

Easy uses 6 tiles with pairs that sum to 10. Medium presents 8 tiles with targets of 10 or 20. Hard challenges you with 10 tiles and targets of 10, 20, or 50 — requiring fast mental subtraction.

  • 60-Second Rush and Survival Modes

In Rush mode, clear as many boards as possible in 60 seconds. In Survival mode, you have 3 lives — tapping a wrong pair costs a life. No timer means you can think, but one pair at a time.

  • Streak and High Score Tracking

Consecutive correct pairs build a fire streak. Best scores are saved per difficulty and mode in your browser so you always have a record to beat.

What is Make 10?

Make 10 is a tile-pairing math game that drills the most important addition facts — pairs that sum to 10. A board of colorful number tiles appears, and your job is to find and tap two tiles whose values add up to the target (10 on Easy, 10 or 20 on Medium, 10/20/50 on Hard). Matched pairs vanish, and once the board is clear a fresh set spawns. The game rewards both speed and accuracy: in Rush mode you race the 60-second clock to clear as many boards as possible, while Survival mode gives you just 3 lives. Instant recall of pairs-to-10 (like 3+7, 4+6, 2+8) is considered the single most valuable mental math skill for young learners, and this game makes practicing it irresistibly fun.

Why Play Make 10?

  • 1

    Automates Critical Number Facts

Pairs that sum to 10 are used constantly in multi-digit addition, making change, and telling time. Drilling until these facts are instant frees up working memory for harder problems.

  • 2

    Engaging Tile-Matching Format

The tap-to-pair mechanic feels like a matching game rather than a worksheet. Children stay engaged longer because clearing tiles is inherently satisfying.

  • 3

    Scales with Skill

Easy mode (pairs to 10) is perfect for 5–7 year olds. Medium and Hard raise the target to 20 and 50, requiring mental subtraction (e.g., 50 − 33 = 17) that challenges older students and adults.

  • 4

    Develops Scanning and Strategy

With multiple tiles on the board, players must scan, compare, and choose efficiently. This trains number sense and visual processing alongside pure arithmetic.
