  3. Stack Sevens to Fill the Candle Order

Stack Sevens to Fill the Candle Order

Wick Crate

A tallow loft with a packing crate and twine-tied sevens. The slip shows 7 times a number. Drag each seven-candle bundle into the crate until the stack matches the product. Overfill dumps the order. Built for third-grade sevens fluency — equal groups you can stack, not a bubble to tap.

How to Play Wick Crate

  1. 1

    Read the Slip

The paper on the nail shows 7 × a number. That is how many sevens belong in the crate.

  2. 2

    Grab a Seven

Bundles wait on the bench. Each one is seven candles. Drag one onto the open crate.

  3. 3

    Stack to the Product

Keep stacking until the crate holds exactly that many sevens. Easy and medium show the running total. Hard does not.

  4. 4

    Ship Eight Orders

A perfect stack ships and scores. An overfill dumps the crate. Eight good ships win. Three dumps end the shift.

Key Features

  • A Slip on the Nail

Every order is a seven-times fact. The loft asks for that many sevens — you build the product in the crate.

  • Stack the Bundles

Each bundle is seven tapers tied with twine. Drop them on the slats. The pile grows. Hit the count and the crate ships.

  • Overfill Dumps

One extra seven tips the crate. Wax hits the floor, the streak breaks, and a wick is lost. Pull the extra off the bench before you drop it.

  • Three Loft Shifts

Easy packs 7×1 through 7×5 with a running count. Medium goes to 7×10. Hard hides the numeral so you count the tapers.

What is Wick Crate?

Wick Crate is a third-grade multiplication game for the sevens facts. Kids stack bundles of seven candles to match 7 × n. That is equal groups on a packing bench, not tapping the product in a bubble grid.

Why Play Wick Crate?

  • 1

    Sevens You Can Hold

Each drop is a group of seven. The stack is skip-counting you can see.

  • 2

    The Crate Changes

A full order glows and ships. An extra bundle dumps the pile. The board moves, not just a green label.

  • 3

Fact Fluency With a Stop Rule

You have to know when the product is complete. One extra seven costs a wick.

  • 4

    Touch First

Bundles are large enough to drag. Mute sits with the kraft score tickets, not under the fullscreen button.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I stack?

Twine-tied bundles of seven candles. If the slip says 7 × 4, the crate needs four bundles (28 tapers).

What if I put in one too many?

The crate dumps, the streak resets, and you lose a wick. Extra bundles stay on the bench until you drag them.

What do Easy, Medium, and Hard change?

Which factors appear and whether you see the running total. Easy is 7×1–5 with a count tag. Medium is 7×2–10. Hard is 7×3–12 with no numeral on the crate.

How is the score calculated?

Each shipped crate scores in the hundreds. Streaks add a bonus. Best is saved per difficulty.

What grade is this for?

Third and fourth grade (about ages 8–10), when students learn the sevens facts. Stay on Easy to start with smaller products.
