How to Play Lode Crack

  1. 1

    Pick a Shift

Eight hauls or survival with three lives. Easy uses one whole and halves through fourths. Hard uses up to three wholes and eighths.

  2. 2

    Read the Mix

A mixed number waits on the plaque. You will pour that many gold chunks.

  3. 3

    Pour the Gold

Tap an empty cavity to drop an ingot. Tap again to lift it. Fill the whole molds, then only the leftover gold.

  4. 4

    Read the Improper Fraction

Gold chunks over cavities in one mold. The next haul rolls in.

Key Features

  • See the Molds

Each iron mold is one gold bar cut into equal chunks. That count is the denominator.

  • Pour the Mix

Fill every whole mold. Then pour only the leftover gold in the last mold. That total is the improper numerator.

  • The Fraction Appears

When the gold matches the mix, 5/3 lights up. One extra chunk is a miss.

  • Score You Chase

A clean haul starts at +100 and climbs with the streak. A perfect eight-haul run adds a shaft bonus. Best scores save per mode and difficulty.

What is Lode Crack?

Lode Crack is a mixed-number conversion game. Each iron mold is one gold bar cut into equal chunks. Students pour the mix, then see the same amount as an improper fraction. Buttons and labels follow the site locale.

Why Play Lode Crack?

  • 1

    Denominator First

Kids see equal cavities in a mold before they name the fraction. The bottom number is how many chunks make one gold bar. For 5/3, that is three cavities in every mold.

  • 2

    Numerator Is the Haul

Whole molds plus leftover gold. The top number is how many ingots you poured.

  • 3

    Tap, Don't Type

No keypad. Pouring the gold is the answer. The digits appear after a clean haul.

  • 4

    A Score That Moves

Point pops and a streak make converting a mix feel like a rush in the shaft.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the two numbers in the fraction mean?

The bottom number is how many equal cavities sit in one mold. The top number is how many gold chunks you poured.

What happens if I tap too many chunks?

That is a miss. The extra cavity stays empty. The streak resets. In survival you lose a life.

Can I lift an ingot?

Yes. Tap a gold chunk to lift it before the haul is complete.

What do Easy, Medium, and Hard change?

How many wholes and how fine the molds are. Easy uses one whole and 2, 3, or 4 chunks per mold. Hard uses up to three wholes and eighths.

What grade is this for?

Fourth and fifth grade, when students rewrite a mixed number as an improper fraction.
