How to Play Wafer Press

  1. 1

    The Rig starts

Wafer Press starts on its own. Tap Easy, Medium, or Hard on the copper bar. There is no Play button over the tubes.

  2. 2

    Read the number

The CRT shows a three-digit number. The prompt says Press the wafers. Read Hundreds, Tens, and Ones. The Lit plaque counts what you have already pressed.

  3. 3

    Press the wafers

Press a Hundreds wafer into Hundreds, a Tens wafer into Tens, and an Ones wafer into Ones. Yank a wafer out of a tube if you pressed too many. If a place is 0, leave that tube empty. Then throw Power. When Lit matches, you hear Number lit.

  4. 4

    Fill Rig to Press quiet

Light eight numbers to win, or keep going until the Lamps are gone. Press quiet shows your Spark score, a rank, and Press again.

Key Features

  • Press the wafers

The CRT shows a three-digit number. Press a Hundreds wafer, a Tens wafer, or an Ones wafer into that tube. Yank a wafer back out if you need to. Then throw Power. A hit lights Number lit and adds Spark. A miss dumps the tubes and snuffs a Lamp.

  • A Rig toward Press quiet

Wafer Press starts on its own. Easy, Medium, or Hard stay on the copper bar so you can switch without a menu. Each Number lit fills Rig. Eight lit numbers reach Press quiet.

  • Spark score and streak

Each Number lit starts at 120 Spark and grows by 60 with a streak. Point pops fly off Power. A miss resets the streak.

  • Difficulty that changes the skill

Easy uses small three-digit numbers with no zeros, and Power glows when Lit already matches. Medium opens 100-999 and empty tubes for a zero. Hard keeps that range, often hides a zero, hides the tube words, and writes the number as hundreds + tens + ones.

What is Wafer Press?

Wafer Press is a second grade place value game. Kids press Hundreds, Tens, and Ones wafers into three glass tubes, then throw Power to match a three-digit number on a CRT. Easy stays on small numbers with no zeros. Medium and Hard open 100-999, including empty tubes for zero. Hard also hides tube words and shows the number as hundreds + tens + ones. The skill is building a visual three-digit number, not tapping a quiz card.

Why Play Wafer Press?

  • 1

    Three-digit place value in motion

Second grade math asks kids to see hundreds, tens, and ones. Wafer Press makes that a press: read the CRT, Press the wafers, then throw Power.

  • 2

A race to light the Rig

Each Number lit fills Rig. Kids feel the machine come back online when Lit matches.

  • 3

    Instant tube feedback

A hit sprays Spark off Power and the CRT says Number lit. A miss dumps the wafers. The board always uses Press the wafers, so the CRT and the how-to say the same words.

  • 4

Works on a finger or a mouse

Press a wafer plate or Yank a tube. Touch targets stay large, and on Easy, Power glows when Lit is ready.

Frequently Asked Questions

What numbers appear in Wafer Press?

The CRT shows a three-digit number. Easy uses small numbers with no zeros. Medium uses 100-999, including zeros. Hard uses 100-999, often with a zero, hides the tube words, and writes the number as hundreds + tens + ones.

How do I score Spark points?

Each Number lit starts at 120 Spark and grows by 60 with a streak. A miss resets the streak and snuffs one of three Lamps.

What does Press the wafers mean?

Read the CRT. Press a Hundreds wafer into Hundreds, a Tens wafer into Tens, and an Ones wafer into Ones until Lit matches the number. Yank extras out. If a place is 0, leave that tube empty. Then throw Power.

What changes on Hard?

Hard still uses 100-999, but zeros show up more often, tube words hide, and the CRT writes hundreds + tens + ones so you Press the wafers from expanded form.

What grade is Wafer Press for?

Wafer Press is second grade place value for three-digit numbers. Easy stays on small numbers with no zeros. Medium and Hard open the rest of 100-999.
