How to Play Hangman

    Select a theme: Animals, Fruits, Countries, Space, Sports, Food, or Mixed. A random secret word will be chosen.

    Guess Letters

    Click (or type) a letter to guess. Correct letters appear in the word blanks; wrong letters add a body part to the hangman.

    Use a Hint

    If you're stuck, tap the Hint button to get a clue about the word without losing a life.

    Win or Lose

    Reveal the full word before making 6 wrong guesses to win! If the hangman is complete, the answer is revealed.

What is Hangman?

Hangman is a classic word-guessing game where a player tries to identify a hidden word by suggesting letters, one at a time. Each incorrect guess adds another part to a stick figure being hanged. The player wins by guessing all the letters before the figure is complete. Frequently Asked Questions

How many wrong guesses are allowed?

You get 6 wrong guesses before the game ends. Each wrong letter adds one body part to the hangman figure (head, body, left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg).

Can I use my keyboard?

Yes! Just press any letter key on your physical keyboard to make a guess. The on-screen alphabet buttons also work by clicking or tapping.

What does the Hint button do?

The Hint button reveals a short clue or description of the secret word without costing a life. Each word has a unique hint.

How are words chosen?

A random word is picked from the selected category's word bank each time you start a new game. With 15 words per category, you'll get lots of variety.

What categories are available?

There are 7 categories: Animals, Fruits, Countries, Space, Sports, Food, and Mixed (draws from all categories).

Are there different difficulty levels?

Difficulty is naturally varied by word length and obscurity within each category. Longer words like POMEGRANATE or SWITZERLAND are harder than shorter ones.
