Students join with a code

Students go to the join page, type the 4-letter class code, and tap their name. That is the whole login. No email, QR app, or student password.

Put the code on the projector or share the join link that already includes the code. The join page is meant for kids: large type, a short code field, then the class list.

Names come from the roster you pasted. A student who is not on the list cannot join. If two kids share a first name, add a last initial when you build the roster so they can tell themselves apart.

After they tap a name, they pick a sticker and land on the class play page. They only see the games you assigned. If they open a random game from the public site, that play will not count for the class unless they came through the class link.

If scores stay empty, the usual cause is that a student skipped join and used a bookmark. Have them return to the join page, enter the code, tap their name, and open the game from the class list.

What students do

  1. 1

    Open the join page

Go to the site’s join page, or use the link you copied from the class.

  2. 2

    Type the 4-letter code

Codes use letters and numbers that are easy to read on a board.

  3. 3

    Tap a name and play

The name must already be on your roster. Then they open an assigned game.

Tips

  • Write the join address and the code on the board before you talk. Kids finish this in under a minute.
  • The join page does not need a teacher account. Anyone with the code can pick a name that is already on the list.
  • If the class is archived, students cannot join until you unarchive it.

Questions teachers ask

What if a student is not on the list?
Add the name on the roster tab and have them refresh the join page.
Can a student join two classes?
Yes. Each class has its own code. They join the class you are running that period.
