PLY (Polygon File Format) is a computer file format used to store 3D data. Originally developed at Stanford University, PLY files can contain vertex positions, face definitions, colors, normals, and texture coordinates. Our PLY viewer supports both ASCII and binary PLY formats, automatically processing vertex colors when available and generating UV coordinates for texture mapping when needed. The viewer normalizes model size and positions it on a grid for optimal viewing.
